Mechanical Designer

Job Description Reports to: Chief Designer

Basic Functions:

* Responsible for producing drawings which meet the customer's expectations in preparation for production
* Required to gather information and produce shop drawings for specific projects, review drawings for accuracy, revise and update drawings for approval by customers, and prepare drawings for production.
* Read information and instructions, and interpret and analyze contents from materials such as technical reports.
* Understand "Good Engineering Practices" for industry standards
* Contact customers for information on a project or check with production to ensure conformity to specifications.
* Perform computations or analyses using basic statistical, financial, or logical concepts, or complex mathematical concepts.
* Must support design efforts with detailed dimensional calculations to verify configurations and layouts.
* Responsible to meet Project deadlines and quality goals.
* Communicate with Supervisors and Managers on project operations.
* Prepare and interpret scale drawings, schematic drawings, layouts and other visual aids.

Experience and Skills Required:

* High School Diploma or GED required, supplemented by a two-year Vocational/Technical degree in AutoCAD operations.
* 5 years of relevant Mechanical design experience within the bulk material handling discipline required. * Proficiency in Soildworks required. Knowledge of AutoCAD, desired.
* Knowledge of Microsoft Office and basic computer skills required.
* Work may require travel to meetings, site visits, and inspections. This requires the possession of a valid state drivers license.
* References from past employers with knowledge of candidate’s capabilities may be required.
